Elizabeth PollardElizabeth Pollard: MABVI provided essential support during her aunt Irene’s vision loss

Thank you for your support! I’m Elizabeth, and I’m excited to run the 129th Boston Marathon on April 21, 2025 to help raise funds for a cause that’s close to my heart – the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. My Aunt, Irene Hill, is legally blind, and this organization has helped support her in so many ways- from providing support, helping her access her favorite authors on audiobooks, and tech training, their care and support has been invaluable. Over the course of the last few years she has lost her vision, and her courage and bravery inspires me every day. This organization does fantastic work in supporting individuals with visual impairments, helping them lead more independent lives. Through training, resources, and advocacy, they provide essential services that truly make a difference. Join me in this journey to make a positive impact for those who need it most. Jack BradleyJack Bradley: Resilience is a family tradition; running in honor of his blind grandparents and aunt

This cause is close to my heart, as I grew up in a house with my parents, 3 sisters, grandparents, Mimi & Papa, and our Great Aunty Marcie (Mimi’s Twin). Mimi, Papa, and Aunty Marcie were all legally blind, meeting at the Perkins School for the Blind in 1934. Together, they shaped my outlook on life in ways I carry with me every day. Despite their visual impairments, they raised five children, worked full-time jobs, and provided a loving home without ever letting blindness hold them back. I picked up running in 2021 and never thought I would be given the opportunity, let alone be capable, of running the Boston Marathon. I ran my first Marathon this past May, and despite some physical and unforeseen roadblocks, still finished. I owe that resilience to Mimi, Papa, and Aunty Marcie. Running for Team With a Vision allows me to honor them and help others with similar challenges. Thank you for joining me on this journey and supporting a cause that means so much to my family and I. Kati FratesiKati Fratesi: Sixteen years and six stars

For the past 16 years, I’ve volunteered and continued to raise funds to support those who are visually impaired through Delta Gamma. In college, I dedicated over 40 hours a year to various causes, including the Lighthouse for the Blind, Lions Eye Institute, Southeastern Guide Dogs, and other local organizations. As a consultant, I volunteered at Anchor Schools for the Blind and other state institutions while traveling. In this role, I also advised collegiate chapters with cultivating a philanthropic passion  for raising funds and giving back to “Service for Sight,” Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission since 1936 supporting to those who are blind or visually impaired. I’ve been fortunate to attend many Delta Gamma lectureships and events, where I’ve heard remarkable stories from those who are visually impaired, reinforcing my passion for generating accessibility resources for this community.

I discovered running through Delta Gamma when my roommate encouraged me to sign up for a half marathon during my senior year. Since that first race, I was hooked! After moving to Chicago, I participated in the 2015 Bank of America Chicago Marathon and fell in love with the marathon experience—the grit, the energy, and the runner’s high captivated me. Since then, I’ve completed 12 marathons, including five of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors. Boston will be my sixth star and in essence has been my north star since starting my marathon journey. These experiences fuel my passion for helping others, which is why it’s such a privilege to combine these passions as I represent MABVI’s Team With A Vision at the 2025 Boston Marathon and earn my sixth star! Russ Gill running the Boston MarathonRussell Gill: Running the Boston Marathoner for the 48th time in honor of his grandmother!

I’m proud and honored to be on the 2025 Team with a Vision. For most people, running in the Boston Marathon is something they can only dream of doing. On April 21st, I will be running in the Boston Marathon for the 48th time! I want to give back to the Boston community all the love and support they’ve shown me over these many years! I will be struggling to complete the marathon in loving memory of my grandmother, who lost her sight late in life. In addition, I will be participating in memory of all the 2013 Boston Bombing victims. Last, but not least, I will be taking part in the 129th running of the Boston Marathon in honor of it being my 48th Boston. And I’m just getting warmed up! Please consider being one of my MABVI sponsors by donating to this most worthy cause on GivenGain! Once I receive your online gift, I will acknowledge receipt of your donation ASAP. In addition, after I complete the marathon, I will inform my donors as to how much I raised and how much I struggled to finish. Once again, let’s join forces and show our support for the less fortunate. Team up with me and, together, we’ll make the world a better place. Donate to Russ’ Fundraiser

Van Anh NguyenVan Anh Nguyen: Passionate about making a difference in the lives of others

Thru my endurance sport journey, I have raised money for various organizations with focus on supporting women having balanced body and mind enabled them to continue pursuing their dreams, raising funds for cancer program, for Heart Foundation, and for orphans and children because they are all especially closed to my heart. Lately with my mother has experienced vision loss and we have been very lucky to receive great supports and have operation on time to save her vision thus urge the need to raise awareness about eyes care and protection that people might generally underestimate the cause. If the people with vision loss can receive proper support, they can not only have a equally better quality of life but also can do extraordinary things to pursue their dreams. When I was running London marathon, I met a mother around 60-70 years old who lost her vision and was running with her son. She was surpassing me, I feel very touched and emotional seeing the effort and perseverance. Donate to Van Anh’s Fundraiser

OnajiteOkotogboOnajite Okotogbo: Lived experience with vision loss and fundraising to help others

Being someone that has been visually impaired from a very young age and partially blind, having lived through each blessed day, I remember how uncomfortable some of those moments were and how it affected my self-esteem. Some days were so unbearable because the eye pressure was so high that I felt like plucking off my own eye. And during my childbearing years, the eye pain became worse and grew out of shape that I needed surgery to repair it. The cost of the surgery was very high that I couldn’t afford it. But with the help from generous people like you, I was able to get a surgery done at zero cost to me. Although I am still partially blind, but I’ve been living pain free since the surgery was done about 20 years ago. I’m forever grateful to those people who helped changed my life. For this very reason, I’m using my participation in this upcoming Boston Marathon 2025 to fundraise and give back to those needing assistance with restoring/repairing their vision. Bob SchockBob Schock: Adapting to vision loss and living life to the fullest

Today, I am supporting a charity known as “Team with a Vision” and in doing so, earning the honor of running the Boston Marathon in 2025! The mission of the organization resonates with me as someone struggling at times with my own vision. Just like thousands of others, I’ve had to adapt to living with vision loss. Some days, hours, and minutes are better than others, but I try to remain confident in my ability to LIVE life to the fullest. Many people have a tendency to take their eyesight for granted but I think it crucial to relay the message that just like with any other chronic health condition, people deserve equitable, inclusive, and accessible surroundings and opportunities. The charity combines this quest with the chance to run the Boston Marathon which is a perfect recipe and opportunity of a lifetime. Join me on this journey to make a difference!
